Privacy policy
Kessik is an iPhone app that connects to a Mac you own over SSH. The developer, Zach Short, does not run a server for the app. Kessik collects no personal data, and the developer receives none.
What the app stores on your phone
- The hostname, username and port of your Mac, and your settings, snippets and reply chips.
- Your SSH private key, and the passwords you choose to save. These go in the iPhone Keychain. A setting turns off saved passwords.
- The host key of each Mac you connect to, so the app can detect a change.
This data stays on your phone. Deleting the app removes it.
What the app sends
Kessik sends data only to the Mac you enter in Settings, over an encrypted SSH connection. This includes the commands you type and the photos you choose to send to the Mac. The developer cannot see this traffic. If you use Tailscale, Tailscale carries the connection under its own privacy policy.
Permissions
- Local network. The app searches your Wi-Fi for Macs that have Remote Login on, using Bonjour. The results stay on the phone.
- Photos. The app reads a photo only when you pick it to send to your Mac.
Analytics, advertising and third parties
Kessik has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party services built in. It does not sell or share data.
Children
Kessik is a developer tool. It does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.

If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new effective date.
